Department of Meteorological Services (Botswana)

The Department of Meteorological Services(BDMS) is a Botswana Government Department under the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism.
Its mission is to timely provide and exchange reliable and accurate weather and climate data and information and related services, by observing, collecting, monitoring, processing, analysing, forecasting and predicting weather and climate through the use of up-to-date technology to enable optimal utilization of resources and to contribute to the safety and protection of life and property.

Through nomination from the SADC Secretariat, the BDMS has recently implemented the Africa Monitoring of the Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) which ended in June 2013 and is currently the Regional Implementing Center (RIC) for the Monitoring for Environment and Security in Africa (MESA) programme, the SADC Thematic Action.
