MESA SADC Regional Training #1

Monitoring of Environment and Security in Africa (MESA is an EU funded programme aimed at increasing the information management and decision making capacity of African continental, regional and national institutions mandated for Environmental related sectors (including climate and environmental security) and to facilitate the access to and exploitation of Africa-wide environmental information derived from Earth Observation applications and technologies in support to decision makers.

 

The MESA SADC THEMA is implemented by Botswana Department of Meteorological Services (BDMS) and SADC Climate Services Centre. The SADC THEMA aims at enhancing management of agricultural and environmental resources within participating SADC Member States by providing Earth Observation services to monitor and manage:

• Agriculture,

• Drought,

• Wildfires, and

• Floods

 

Capacity building forms an important part of the MESA programme. The main objective of the regional training is to capacitate the relevant institutions in the region on the use of the services. Invitation letters and further details about the training will be sent to the participants, who are the national focal points.
